Two lovely stone-built cottages near Cognac set in mature gardens in a village setting and including a large swimming pool.

The cottages are set in a small village called Lamberniere in the commune of Mons.The town of Matha to the north is just 5 minutes away and is great for local shopping with supermarkets,bakers and restaurants.The historic town of Cognac is 20 minutes to the south.Famous for its brandy houses which offer tours and tastings and set beside the River Charente,Cognac offers much to enjoy.The visitor can take advantage of boating facilities on the river,take the children to the leisure facilities on the riverside or just enjoy strolling along the walking precincts,stopping for a drink or a meal in one of the many outdoor cafes and restaurants in the town centre.The Roman town of Saintes with its amphitheatre is 30 minutes away and offers comprehensive shopping facilities.Wonderful sandy beaches around Royan can be reached in 1 hour.For golfers,there are courses at Cognac and Saintes and for tennis players there is a court at Mons,a short walk away.A leisure lake with restaurant is within a few minutes,and is great for a casual evening meal on warm summer evenings,very child friendly and easygoing.The cottages are therefore well situated to take advantage of many varied options,set as they are in a peaceful country setting,but not isolated.

Surrounded by vineyards and sunflowers,the cottages have been renovated with taste and artistic flair by the film designer owner.A large swimming pool sits within the mature gardens surrounding the property.Resident owners are on-site for pool-cleaning,gardening and to provide assistance if asked for.The Charente Maritime has a sunshine record comparable to the Mediterranean thanks to the Gulf Stream,and is the second-sunniest part of France after the Riviera.
